
J. Mark Beckstead, D.D.S.
Dr. Beckstead has been
practicing periodontics at his current location since
1991. He is the owner and the principal manager of the
practice. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Periodontology and he has held faculty positions at both
the University of the Pacific (UOP) and the University
of California at San Francisco (UCSF) schools of dentistry.
He is currently in full-time private practice where in
addition to providing the full scope of periodontal treatment,
he has developed particular interest and expertise with
implants, soft tissue grafting and conscious sedation.
A native Californian, Dr. Beckstead grew up in the bay
area and he attended local schools. His college pursuits
took him to Brigham Young University (BYU) where he received
a bachelor’s degree in biology. He followed his
father’s footsteps by choosing a career in dentistry.
He graduated with honors from the University of Southern
California (USC) School of Dentistry. Upon graduation,
he was accepted into a General Practice Residency at
the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. It was during his
residency that he developed a real interest in periodontics.
He went on to postdoctoral specialty training at the
University of Washington School of Dentistry where he
received his certificate in periodontics.
Dr. Beckstead has been active in the local dental community
through continuing education programs. Dr. Beckstead
directs the Palo Alto Study Club. The club is an organization
of dental professionals who meet together to further
their understanding of multi-disciplinary treatment and
comprehensive care of patients.
Dr. Beckstead and his wife have four children and reside
in Los Altos.
